A Way of Life

10/29/2014

16 There are six things the Lord hates--
no, seven things he detests:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
18 a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
19 a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.
20 My son, obey your father’s commands,
and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
21 Keep their words always in your heart.
Tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, their counsel will lead you.
When you sleep, they will protect you.
When you wake up, they will advise you.
23 For their command is a lamp
and their instruction a light;
their corrective discipline
is the way to life.

Come and Dine

"Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine."
John 21:12

In these words the believer is invited to a holy nearness to Jesus. "Come and dine," implies the same table, the same meat; aye, and sometimes it means to sit side by side, and lean our head upon the Saviour's bosom. It is being brought into the banqueting-house, where waves the banner of redeeming love. "Come and dine," gives us a vision of union with Jesus, because the only food that we can feast upon when we dine with Jesus is himself. Oh, what union is this! It is a depth which reason cannot fathom, that we thus feed upon Jesus. "He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him." It is also an invitation to enjoy fellowship with the saints. Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. If we were more near to Jesus we should be more near to one another. We likewise see in these words the source of strength for every Christian. To look at Christ is to live, but for strength to serve him you must "come and dine." We labour under much unnecessary weakness on account of neglecting this precept of the Master. We none of us need to put ourselves on low diet; on the contrary, we should fatten on the marrow and fatness of the gospel that we may accumulate strength therein, and urge every power to its full tension in the Master's service. Thus, then, if you would realize nearness to Jesus, union with Jesus, love to his people and strength from Jesus, "come and dine" with him by faith.

"But who may abide the day of his coming?"Malachi 3:2

His first coming was without external pomp or show of power, and yet in truth there were few who could abide its testing might. Herod and all Jerusalem with him were stirred at the news of the wondrous birth. Those who supposed themselves to be waiting for him, showed the fallacy of their professions by rejecting him when he came. His life on earth was a winnowing fan, which tried the great heap of religious profession, and few enough could abide the process. But what will his second advent be? What sinner can endure to think of it? "He shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked." When in his humiliation he did but say to the soldiers, "I am he," they fell backward; what will be the terror of his enemies when he shall more fully reveal himself as the "I am?" His death shook earth and darkened heaven, what shall be the dreadful splendour of that day in which as the living Saviour, he shall summon the quick and dead before him? O that the terrors of the Lord would persuade men to forsake their sins and kiss the Son lest he be angry! Though a lamb, he is yet the lion of the tribe of Judah, rending the prey in pieces; and though he breaks not the bruised reed, yet will he break his enemies with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. None of his foes shall bear up before the tempest of his wrath, or hide themselves from the sweeping hail of his indignation; but his beloved blood washed people look for his appearing with joy, and hope to abide it without fear: to them he sits as a refiner even now, and when he has tried them they shall come forth as gold. Let us search ourselves this morning and make our calling and election sure, so that the coming of the Lord may cause no dark forebodings in our mind. O for grace to cast away all hypocrisy, and to be found of him sincere and without rebuke in the day of his appearing.

Launch out into the deep

"Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught."
Luke 5:4

We learn from this narrative, the necessity of human agency. The draught of fishes was miraculous, yet neither the fisherman nor his boat, nor his fishing tackle were ignored; but all were used to take the fishes. So in the saving of souls, God worketh by means; and while the present economy of grace shall stand, God will be pleased by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. When God worketh without instruments, doubtless he is glorified; but he hath himself selected the plan of instrumentality as being that by which he is most magnified in the earth. Means of themselves are utterly unavailing. "Master, we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing." What was the reason of this? Were they not fishermen plying their special calling? Verily, they were no raw hands; they understood the work. Had they gone about the toil unskilfully? No. Had they lacked industry? No, they had toiled. Had they lacked perseverance? No, they had toiled all the night. Was there a deficiency of fish in the sea? Certainly not, for as soon as the Master came, they swam to the net in shoals. What, then, is the reason? Is it because there is no power in the means of themselves apart from the presence of Jesus? "Without him we can do nothing." But with Christ we can do all things. Christ's presence confers success. Jesus sat in Peter's boat, and his will, by a mysterious influence, drew the fish to the net. When Jesus is lifted up in his Church, his presence is the Church's power—the shout of a king is in the midst of her. "I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me." Let us go out this morning on our work of soul fishing, looking up in faith, and around us in solemn anxiety. Let us toil till night comes, and we shall not labour in vain, for he who bids us let down the net, will fill it with fishes.

THE WAY

Hebrews 7:18-19
Yes, the old requirement about the priesthood was set aside because it was weak and useless. For the law never made anything perfect. But now we have confidence in a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

The law revealed to humankind our sin, but it could not change us. After we fell and “obtained” the knowledge of good and evil, sin continued to increase more and more. While there were glimmers of hope and repentance throughout the story of the Bible, humankind always fell short of the glory of God. The truth is that we could not hope to restore ourselves to the Lord. We would always fall short of realizing relationship with God without help. We needed a uniquely qualified High Priest, One that could do what the law could not. Jesus Christ is “our better hope, through which we draw near to God”. He not only became a sacrifice “once and for all” to atone for our sin, but He also granted us the gift of the Holy Spirit. He is able to continually lead us in our daily lives so that we may remain in Christ. Jesus is THE way to God.

My Prayer for Today

10/8/2014

My prayer for today!

Oh, how I love your instructions!
I think about them all day long.
Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,
for they are my constant guide.
Yes, I have more insight than my teachers,
for I am always thinking of your laws.
I am even wiser than my elders,
for I have kept your commandments.
I have refused to walk on any evil path,
so that I may remain obedient to your word.
I haven’t turned away from your regulations,
for you have taught me well.
How sweet your words taste to me;
they are sweeter than honey.
Your commandments give me understanding;
no wonder I hate every false way of life.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again:
I will forever obey your righteous regulations.

God has given me an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God has also given me the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.

Thank You Father!

Celebrating 2 years of Ministry

7/22/2013

July 14th Services

This Sunday there was a most extraordinary service at Tree of Life. In celebrating our second year of service for the Kingdom of God. We experienced an abundant anointing of God's presence and it was greatly enhanced during our moment of Praise and Worship.

I felt such a presence of Gods anointing for it was then that I realized that this Praise and Worship got past the ceiling of our sanctuary. For there was such a endearing and compassionate call for His presence that I know it reached the Throne room of God as our praise and worship pleased HIm so. And in doing what we did, it helped to saturate our sanctuary with His Love, His Compassion and His Presence.

It was also a time for remembrance of how God has moved in our lives these past two years, and I was amazed at how it brought about a yearning in us for the things to come.

God is an awesome God, and the work that He is instructing us to accomplish here at Tree of Life is directly attributed to coming of the Kingdom of God.

In being led by Holy Spirit, we are moved in servicing the Kingdom in the same character and manner in which Jesus served His Father.

And there is no other way but Jesus!

I saw that Sunday we continued to be obedient to what Romans 12:1-2 mandates us to do.

Romans 12:1-12  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

In the past two years there has been a transformation, there has been a renewing of our minds.

Now, we look forward to the future, for there is a plan and a path laid out for us to follow, Yet not alone, for we have a counselor, an advocate and a power so full of wisdom that if we just submit to Him, there is no way we can fail.

I give God all the HONOR, PRAISE and all the GLORY!

In the Mighty Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen!

Sermon Summary - July 7, 2013

7/14/2013

July 7th Services

We had an excellence finish with our teaching on virtue. In this nation that is more moved by vices than virtue we must look to Virtue Himself Jesus Christ for the answers to our questions. He is the Way and there is no other.
We must take on His attributes so that we become more obedient to our Fathers desires for our life.

Phillipians 4:8

“Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.”

VIRTUE, in a word, is the character of Jesus Christ.

It is the power of moral excellence which produces a character so great, a conduct so becoming, and a conversation so compelling – that the world is never the same for having seen it, for having experienced it, and for having heard it.

Now it’s time for us to take over.

For now, you yourself have become an extension of God’s character in our own sphere of influence, so start influencing.

Imagine the impact upon this planet when the one Jesus of Nazareth becomes increasingly multiplied over and over in the millions of His followers all around the world.

This comes about as you take on the identical mannerisms of Christ and you begin to share them with others.

In the Mighty Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen!
